The E.R.A Mini Turbo was conceived as a 1980’s replacement for the Mini Cooper S. A car with all the key characteristics of the Cooper – speed, handling, excitement - but one which would introduce into the concept the refinement and comfort lacking in the original, but so necessary for modern motoring.

E.R.A set out to engineer a car to the highest automotive standards. There would be no compromise on engineering quality. The car should use as many tried and tested standard Austin Rover components as possible. It should minimise the use of special tooling to avoid lengthy testing and uneconomic production batches.



The ERA mini turbo – G19 ERA (13,496 MILES) 

RA Classics proudly present this outstanding example of the E.R.A mini turbo. It is a RHD UK registered car and has covered just under 14,000miles. This is 1 of 99 UK cars ever built and 1 of 53 British racing green UK cars. Around 40% of all UK cars have either been stolen, written off or exported to Germany or Japan, so what original UK cars remain in the UK is unknown but you can be sure this is one rare car.  

Lets start with the bodywork and exterior condition, with such low mileage you shouldn't be surprised when I tell you its beautifully maintained paintwork has no imperfections, the original fiberglass body kit remains in good condition and all 4 original TRACKSTAR 'compomotive' alloy wheels are in perfect condition and come complete with matching wheel cap securing screw and corresponding key. 

When the ERA decided to produce a more refined, modernized version of the cooper S they decided one of the most important aspect to change was the comfort, to remove the 'bus driver' seat position and to build a bespoke interior for the car. 2 variations were available, either full or half leather, this model has a full leather interior with seats that are in fantastic condition, all gauges are original and work as they should. The interior also has the front and rear mounted original 'phillips' speakers. 

The engine is identical to that fitted to the MG Metro turbo. It has a capacity of 1275cc and is fitted with a Garret T3 Turbocharger, SU HIF44 carburetors which has the original and correct aluminum plate on the float chamber, reading FZX 1435 both of which have been properly maintained. A full engine specification is available on request. 

To conclude, this car is arguably one of the nicest RHD versions in the UK and is being sold out of a private collection where only original, outstanding examples are kept.
